This would definitely not have been my kind of movie, but my husband saw it on TV and said it was really good. So, on his recommendation, I bought a copy, since I didn't know if it would ever be on TV again. I had never heard of anybody in it except Armand Assante. At first I had a hard time getting into the story, because the first part of the movie is a jumble of images-- and...。小男孩亨利为了保护邻居家的小姑娘不被她的父亲所伤，暗自策划了一场谋杀。。在英帝国主义统治下的华北某煤矿，矿工过着悲惨的生活，生命毫无保障。矿工的儿子路子十三岁失去了父母，被迫当矿工。在大风雪的寒夜，路子和他的小伙伴石头、顺子、二豆子几个童工无家可归，围着烤白薯的炉子过夜。抗日战争时期，日本帝国主义以军事武力统治了煤矿，更加残酷的剥削工人。王福厚由于年老，被监工活活地埋了。路子他们去杀监工，为他报仇，结果石头反而送了命，后来在地下党员傅东山的启发和教育下，矿工们进行有组织的罢工，取得了胜利。。
